This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

§ 03RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Set up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.

  • Modifies numerically controlled programs on numerically controlled (NC) machines.

  • Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

  • Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.

  • May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.

  • Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

  • Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.

§ 04MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years related CNC experience.

  • Two (2) years’ experience with multi axis machines.

  • Desired - Two (2) years’ experience with CNC programming.

  • OR - 15+ Years Manual/Tool and Die

  • CNC programming skills, preferably NX 10 thru 2306

  • Experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, Hermle, and/or Okuma

  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, OSP or other CNC controls

  • Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

  • Familiar with use of personal computers

  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback

  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.

§ 05PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tooling and fixture design.

  • Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience

  • Outside processing knowledge including: heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.

  • CMM programming/operation experience

  • Conversational programming on the machine

  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts

  • NX programming experience
