This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for a pump fluids engineer for our Lunar Lander in support of NASA’s Artemis mission. This role will support the development of pumps for various water, coolant, and propellant systems. The successful candidate will havebeen involved in thedesign, manufacturing, andtesting ofelectrically driven pumps for flight vehicles where cost and mass are critical factors.

§ 02RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage in the entire design cycle ofpumpsincluding conceptual design, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout and analysis, integration, test and mission support

  • Collaborate with many internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs associated with deliveringpumps

  • Lead team-based identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for full lifecyclepumphardware development

  • Manage project schedule, resources, and cost – present status of effort, including risks, variances and recovery plans to program management

  • Work to continuously improve the team processes and manage team assignments to move quickly while meeting human space flight standards

  • Perform procurement, integration support, and discrepancy resolution

  • Oversee component and subsystem level testing including test planning, test execution, data reduction, and analysis

  • Create and modify drawings, specifications, and other documentation

  • Support procurement activities to support vehicle build schedules

§ 03QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

  • 3+ years of industry experience in detail design / development of aerospace or equivalent-type fluid systems and project management

  • Strong knowledge ofpumps

  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative topumpsand machined components

  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments

  • Experience leading at least 1 multi-person development project, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, cost, and communications

  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E) and PLM (Windchill)

  • Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)

  • Experience with high pressure and cryogenic systems

  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
